This policy explains what information Yala Media Group collects, how we use it, and your rights as a user of our products and website.
Yala Media Group LLC ("Yala Media Group," "we," "us," or "our") is a technology company based in Atlanta, Georgia. We build digital products — including browser extensions, mobile applications, and web tools — designed to generate charitable giving for Muslim and Islamic nonprofit organizations through everyday digital behavior.
Our primary product is the Yala Gives Browser Extension, a free Chrome extension that generates revenue through new tab ad impressions, Amazon affiliate commissions, and Bing search queries, and routes 100% of resulting profits to user-selected nonprofit partners.
This Privacy Policy applies to:
By using our website or any of our products, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
We collect information you provide when you interact with our website or products, including:
When you visit our website, we automatically collect certain technical information, including:
The Yala Gives Browser Extension collects limited information necessary to operate the giving model:
The Yala Gives Extension does not collect your browsing history, read the content of pages you visit, access your passwords or payment information, or track you across websites outside of the specific giving-related behaviors described above.
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
Session data from the browser extension is used to calculate giving attribution — specifically, to determine how much revenue was generated by your usage and which nonprofit organization should receive the associated share of profits. This calculation is performed in aggregate and is not tied to your personal identity.
Information submitted through our nonprofit application form is used to evaluate and onboard nonprofit partners. We may contact applicants via email or phone to verify information and complete the onboarding process.
We use aggregated, anonymized analytics data to understand how people use our website and products, identify areas for improvement, and measure the performance of new features.
If you contact us directly, we use the information you provide to respond to your inquiry. We do not send unsolicited marketing emails.
We may use or retain information as necessary to comply with applicable laws, respond to legal process, or protect the rights, property, or safety of Yala Media Group, our users, or the public.
Our products and website integrate with third-party services that have their own privacy practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of these services:
We display advertisements served by Google AdSense on our website and through the Yala Gives Browser Extension's new tab page. Google uses cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to our website and other sites. Revenue generated from these ads contributes to the giving pool distributed to nonprofit partners.

You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting: google.com/settings/ads
We use Google Analytics to collect anonymized data about website traffic and user behavior. Google Analytics uses cookies to track sessions and interactions. The data collected is aggregated and does not identify individual users.
Google Analytics privacy information: policies.google.com/privacy
To opt out of Google Analytics tracking, you may install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
The Yala Gives Browser Extension participates in the Amazon Associates affiliate program. When you visit Amazon.com, the extension may append an affiliate tracking tag to the URL if no existing affiliate tag is present. This allows Amazon to attribute any resulting purchases to Yala Media Group, generating commission revenue that is added to the giving pool.
We do not receive information about what you purchase on Amazon, only whether a commission-eligible purchase occurred. Amazon's privacy policy: amazon.com/privacy
When the Bing search redirect feature is enabled in the extension (which is disclosed at installation and may be disabled at any time), searches entered in the new tab page are routed through Bing. Microsoft may collect search query data in accordance with its own privacy policy. Revenue from Bing searches contributes to the giving pool.

Our nonprofit partner application form is powered by Formspree, a third-party form processing service. When you submit the application form, your data is transmitted to and stored by Formspree before being delivered to us. Formspree's privacy policy: formspree.io/legal/privacy-policy
Our website uses cookies — small text files stored in your browser — and similar tracking technologies. We use the following types of cookies:
These cookies are required for the website to function and cannot be disabled. They do not store any personally identifiable information.
Set by Google Analytics to collect anonymized data about how visitors use our website. These cookies help us understand which pages are most useful and how users navigate our site. No personally identifiable information is stored in these cookies.
Set by Google AdSense to serve relevant advertisements. These cookies may track your browsing across multiple websites to build a profile of your interests for ad targeting purposes. You can manage these preferences through Google's Ad Settings.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to refuse new cookies, delete existing cookies, or be notified when a new cookie is set. Note that disabling certain cookies may affect the functionality of our website or the advertisements you see.
The Yala Gives Browser Extension operates under the following specific terms:
Your nonprofit selection, session counts, and extension preferences are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage.local and storage.sync APIs. This data does not leave your device except where necessary to attribute affiliate commissions or display your selected nonprofit partner information.
When you visit Amazon.com, the extension checks for the presence of an existing affiliate tag in the URL. If a tag already exists (for example, placed by a content creator whose link you clicked), the extension does nothing. An affiliate tag is only appended when no tag is present. We do not override or replace affiliate tags belonging to other publishers or creators.
The extension replaces your browser's default new tab page with a Yala-branded page displaying ads served by Google AdSense. No information about your browsing history is used to personalize this page beyond what Google AdSense does independently using its own data.
If enabled, searches entered in the new tab search bar are routed through Bing. This feature is clearly disclosed at extension installation. It can be disabled at any time from the extension's settings without affecting other giving streams. When disabled, search queries are routed to Google.
The extension requests only the permissions necessary to operate its giving model. A full list of permissions and their justifications is available in the Chrome Web Store listing and, upon request, by contacting us at hello@yalamediagroup.com.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes. We may share information only in the following circumstances:
We share information with third-party service providers who assist us in operating our website and products (such as Formspree for form processing and Google for analytics and advertising). These providers are contractually obligated to use your information only to provide the services we have engaged them for.
Nonprofit organizations listed on our platform receive disbursement amounts and general attribution data (e.g., the total number of users who selected them). We do not share individual user identity information with nonprofit partners.
We may disclose information if required to do so by law, court order, or governmental authority, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Yala Media Group, our users, or the public.
In the event that Yala Media Group LLC is acquired, merged, or undergoes a similar business transaction, user information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify users via a prominent notice on our website prior to any such transfer.
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy or as required by law:
You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct any inaccuracies. To make such a request, contact us at hello@yalamediagroup.com.

Our lawful basis for processing personal information is legitimate interests (operating the giving model and improving our products) and consent (where you have provided information voluntarily, such as through the nonprofit application form).
You may opt out of Google Analytics data collection by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we collect from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These measures include encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), limited access to personal data on a need-to-know basis, and use of reputable third-party service providers with established security practices.
However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach that is likely to affect your rights and freedoms, we will notify affected parties as required by applicable law.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, products, or applicable law. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify users via a notice on our website.
